Why a cenote is a light set
A cenote is a natural light box. The collapsed limestone roof lets a few beams fall into the water, and the walls catch the glow, so the pool reads as lit from inside. The colour runs from teal near the surface to almost black where the water drops away, which gives strong, cinematic contrast.
Your photo sets the chamber. Show the opening, a little rock and the water line, and the model keeps that architecture. Avoid photos where the rock dissolves into flat black, because the model has no detail to animate.

Mistakes that blow out cenote light
The beam is the hard part. Sunlight on bright water can burn out the highlights, and a face inside it loses its detail. Keep the beam on the background or the rock, and put the subject in the softer light around it. Say so: “the beam falls behind her”.
The second risk is depth. Looking straight down into dark water flattens the image. Give the camera a slow descent or a rising crane, so the walls slide past and the depth reads. Stop before the water turns black.
