Why a lounger is the hardest pose to get right

A lounger is a reclined body, so the face sits lower than the chest and the light falls from above. Most photos of it are taken from the feet or the side, and the model has to invent whatever it cannot see. That makes the reference matter more than usual: a photo where the lounger, the shoulders and the head are all visible gives the clearest result.

Because the person is mostly still, the clip depends on small details: the sheen on the skin, the shadow the sun throws across the body, a hand moving toward the glasses. Write the move as a tiny change, such as a turn of the head or a slow sit-up, and let the light carry the rest. A lounger scene that asks for too much movement starts to look like a different chair.
