A dune is a shape that moves on its own. Wind carries grains over the crest, so the sand keeps the frame alive even when the subject barely moves.
Shoot from a little below the crest, with the figure on the slope and the ridge line behind. A sharp horizon keeps the clip steady; a dune seen from the flat bottom shows only a wall of sand.

- Harsh midday sun with no shade. Strong flat light washes the sand out; late light is kinder.
- Too much wind described. A gale turns the sand into a cloud that hides the face. Ask for a breeze.
- Several figures on different slopes. One adult on one dune is easier to keep consistent.
- Footprints where none should be. If you want clean sand, say “smooth sand behind her”.
